175' Keeper-class Buoy Tenders
175’ KEEPER-CLASS BUOY TENDERS———————————————————————
The 175’ Keeper-class buoy tenders serve in an assortment of critical functions including maintaining aids to navigation, conducting search and rescue missions, law enforcement, marine safety inspections, and environmental protection. They are also used for light ice-breaking operations.
The 175’ Keeper-class buoy tenders are generally homeported near and are deployed to coastal areas such as the Chesapeake Bay, Long Island Sound, and Galveston Bay. They began service in the 1990s and replaced the aging 157’ Red-class buoy tenders and 132’ White-class buoy tenders.
