Badges and Insignia of the Coast Guard represent specific qualifications, accomplishments, and assignments to particular positions and are worn by both Officers and Enlisted personnel. Issuance of these badges and insignia falls under the authority of the Department of Homeland Security. Uniform Regulations also authorizes Coast Guard personnel to wear certain identification badges issued by the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government, the Department of Defense, and the Department of the Navy. Conversely, select Coast Guard Aviation & Diving badges and Qualification insignia may be issued to Navy and Marine Corps personnel and worn in accordance with their respective uniform regulations.
